Police and sheriff’s deputies narrowed their search for the escaped prisoner to the Edison section of Doylestown Township Monday morning.

Officers from multiple municipalities and the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office descended into the wooded residential area to search for Daniel Selby, 25. Authorities said Selby is six-feet-tall with facial scruff. He was last wearing an orange shirt, transport belt, handcuffs and a white blanket used to cover his handcuffs.

Officers milled around 7-Eleven along Route 611 where Selby was last seen. A short distance away, a deputy stood watch with a patrol rifle slung over his shoulder.

Traffic along Route 611 was flowing but was slowed intermittently as police vehicles with their lights and sirens blazing rushed around.

Selby, according to various media reports and officials, fled the custody of deputies and ran off into the night. Residents in Chalfont, Doylestown and Warrington received a reverse 9-1-1 call alerting them of the escape and requesting they stay in doors.

Selby was in custody on a bench warrant related to a previous case, a police official said.

The Edison section of Doylestown Township is only a stones throw from the county correctional facility and the township police station.
