The Steeple View mixed-use development along South State Street in Newtown Borough has signed a new tenant.

Princeton-based Bon Appétit, a European-type retail store with a French bistro-style café, will be added to the first phase of the Steeple View project, according to developer Allan Smith.

The eatery and retail store will go next to the Fine Wine and Spirits Store on the ground floor and the two will compliment one another, Smith told borough Council Wednesday evening.

The Fine Wine and Spirits Store will move from it’s current location of Centre Avenue to its new space in Steeple View. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will take control of their new retail space later this summer. The location, according to Smith, could open as soon as mid-October.

Bon Appétit operates locations in Princeton and Plainsboro, New Jersey.

Smith has previously announced Banana Republic. Ann Taylor and women’s fashion and accessories store Francesca’s are slated for Steeple View.

The first phase will also include 10 luxury condominiums above the retail space.

The second phase of Steeple View is planned to include more mixed-use buildings, a 500-car parking garage and public spaces, including a piazza.

Smith mentioned Wednesday that he places to bury a time capsule that will be opened by Newtownians in 100 years.
