Police have made an arrest after a Wednesday evening shooting in Wrightstown.

According to a press release, Newtown Township police, who patrol Wrightstown, were dispatched to the 1100 block of Swamp Road at 5:04 p.m. after shots were fired. Authorities allege that 31-year-old Elizabeth Summerlee Hegadorn drove to the home, entered and “intentionally fired two rounds from a handgun in the direction” of an extended family member.

The extended family member was not struck by any of the shots, police said.

Hegadorn, an Upper Southampton resident, fled the scene and returned to that township. Upper Southampton officers found her driving her car on Carlin Drive and took her in to custody without incident.

Hegadorn was arraigned before an on-call district judge at 4 a.m. Thursday on charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm in an occupied structure and related offenses. She was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $1 million bail.

Editor’s Note: All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The story was compiled using information from police and public court documents.
