Newtown Borough Council will host a public meeting Thursday evening as they interview five candidates vying for the job of police chief.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center at 30 North Chancellor Street. The public is invited as the Council interviews candidates John Gallagher, David Caristo, Robert McLeod, James Sabath and James Kelly.

Following public comment and the interviews, the Council will hold an executive session and then publically discuss hiring a new chief, according to an agenda.

The tiny department is looking to hire a replacement for Chief Anthony Wojciechowski, who will be retiring in the coming months.
