Annual Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K To Close Roads

A number of roads in Newtown borough and township will be closed Saturday for the Shamrock Shuffle 5K.

The annual run begins at 9 a.m. at the Green Parrot Restaurant and Pub on North Sycamore Street. The location also serves as the finish line.

Temporary road closures will begin at 7:30 and become more widespread at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

The road closures are listed below:

  • North State Street ( Washington Avenue – Edgeboro Drive )
  • Greene Street ( North State Street – North Congress Street )
  • Edgeboro Drive ( North State Street – Linton Hill Road )
  • Frost Lane ( Edgeboro Drive – North Lincoln Avenue )
  • Jefferson Street ( North Sycamore – North Lincoln )
  • Liberty Street ( Washington Avenue – Jefferson Street )
  • North Congress Street ( Washington Avenue – Frost Lane )
  • North Chancellor Street ( Washington Avenue – Frost Lane )
  • Federal Lane
  • North Sycamore Street will be closed starting at 7:30 a.m. between Durham Road and Jefferson Street and between Washington Avenue and Jefferson Street starting at 8:45 a.m.
  • Silo Drive will remain closed for Green Parrot’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities

“We will reopen the roads as soon as all participants are safely across the finish line,” Newtown Borough police said.
