Original Story:

A serious wreck involving a large dump truck shut down Swamp Road Monday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. by the Schofield Covered Bridge entrance to Tyler State Park along Swamp Road in Newtown Township.

The dump truck appeared to have left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and overturned. It ended up spilling some of its haul onto the roadway.

A van from the coroner’s office was on the scene. Immediate word on injuries was not released.

Swamp Road was blocked from Bucks County Community College to Twining Bridge Road as of 1:15 p.m. Tow trucks and PECO crews were on the scene along with police and firefighters.

Near the Swamp Road closure point at Twining Bridge Road, two men were on their phones and visibly upset looking toward the wreck.
