A former Council Rock School District teacher from Levittown was sentenced to one to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to having a relationship with a student.

Jesse Vincent Oberto, 38, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor second-degree count of indecent assault before Bucks County Judge Wallace Bateman late last month at the Justice Center in Doylestown, according to court records.

Oberto was charged last summer with carrying on a relationship with a then-16-year-old female student at Council Rock North High School, which is where he worked as a math teacher.

At the time of his arrest, the school district confirmed that Oberto worked there from 2003 through September 2015.

Newtown Township police learned of the relationship through a referral from Bucks County Children and Youth.

In court papers, investigators said Oberto “engaged in a sexual relationship and had inappropriate communications with a 16-year-old female student.”

Oberto was also ordered to not have contact with the victim and to be released on parole once he served his minimum.
