Police are investigating a reported assault that happened Monday evening.

Newtown Township police, who patrol Wrightstown, said the assault happened at the Sackettsford Road and Rushland Road around 8 p.m.

The person who reported being assaulted was riding his scooter along Sackettsford Road when a beat up-looking mid- to late- 1990s model Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with two doors and a possible extended cab pulled up behind him near the intersection of Rushland Road, police said.

The driver got out of the pickup and said the man on the scooter woke up his child before punching him one time on the right side of his face, police said.

The man on the scooter told police he was knocked out in the assault and the attacker was gone when he regained consciousness.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his 30s who was between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds. He was of muscular build with trimmed sideburns that went into a beard. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with a white brim.

“It is believed that the described black male may reside in the area of where the assault occurred,” investigators said.

Police have asked anyone with information to submit a tip via CrimeWatch.
