New Brewery Eyeing Newtown Business Commons

A proposed brewery has received the green light from the Newtown Township Planning Commission.

Newtown Brewing Company LLC has proposed a 70-seat brewery inside 4,500 square feet of the 10,000-square-foot building at 103 Penns Trail. The property includes 34 parking spots, and the brewery has an agreement with a neighboring business for overflow parking.

The plans do not include a full-service kitchen, but the brewery could serve packaged snacks and patrons could bring food.

The proposal seen by the Planning Commission does not include outdoor seating.

The brewery and tavern use proposed is not included in the current zoning for the property and zoning relief will have to be requested.

Newtown Township does not currently have any breweries within its borders. However, there was effort in 2013 to open a brewery on Swamp Road but plans fell through.
