A man was killed in an Upper Makefield motorcycle crash over the weekend.

Police said the crash happened in the 1500 block of River Road around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Officers arrived to find William Ottey, 42, of Levittown, laying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene and suffered a traumatic head injury, police said.

A passenger on the motorcycle suffered a leg injury and was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown by Central Bucks EMS.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that Ottey was traveling southbound on River Road with a group of motorcyclists. Ottey attempted to pass other southbound traveling vehicles at which time Ottey lost control of the motorcycle, sustaining fatal injuries caused by contacting the roadway. Due to braking in the southbound lane of travel, a second motorcycle collided with the rear of another southbound moving vehicle,” police said.

The crash remained under investigation as of Monday.
