In their second faceoff, Republican Wendi Thomas defeated incumbent Democratic State Rep. Helen Tai in the 178th Legislative District.

The race between the two women was close and ended when Thomas, a former Council Rock School Board member, ended Tuesday with roughly 500 more votes than Tai.

“I’m very sorry to let you know that I lost the race. Thank you to everyone for your hard work and belief in me, and congratulations to Wendi Thomas,” Tai posted on her campaign Facebook page.

Tai beat Thomas in the late spring to fill the seat vacated when Republican State Rep. Scott Petri left to lead the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
