The federal government recently awarded several hundred thousand dollars to help non-elderly persons with disabilities find housing in Bucks County.
The Bucks County Housing Authority received 34 vouchers valued at $318,546 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The funds were part of a statewide total of $3.7 million distributed to 16 local public housing authorities through HUD. In Bucks County, the funds will be used to provide rental assistance.
“We utilize the vouchers to assist individuals transitioning out of institutions and other segregated settings and people currently experiencing homelessness or participating in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project. The vouchers promote long-term housing stability in a safe environment,” said Jeffrey Fields, director of Bucks County Housing Services, which works in partnership with the Bucks County Housing Authority on the voucher program.
Last year, federal dollars assisted 45 Bucks County households.
