A 30-year-old man from Lower Makefield died in a Wednesday morning crash in Newtown Township.

Police said the man was operating his vehicle westbound on Richboro Road between the Newtown Bypass and Mill Pond Road when he collided head-on with a box truck traveling eastbound around 8:45 a.m.

The 30-year-old man was trapped inside his vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Both units were badly damaged.

The driver of the box truck was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was later released, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Richboro Road was closed for about four hours following the wreck.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they deal with this tragedy,” police said.
