Woman Dies, Two Hurt In Friday Evening Crash

One driver died due to injuries.

A fatal two-vehicle crash happened Friday evening in Wrightstown Township.

The wreck occurred on Worthington Mill Road in the area of Mud Road on Friday at around 5:35 p.m., according to the Newtown Township Police Department, who patrol Wrightstown Township.

The police, along with members of the Lingohocken Fire Company and medics, responded to the crash.

According to the initial investigation, the operator of a 2019 Audi traveling east on Worthington Mill Road lost control of their vehicle while negotiating a bend in the road towards Durham Road. The driver was unable to regain control of the car, which subsequently hit a 2017 Subaru traveling in the opposite lane on Wrightstown Road, police said.

The two occupants of the Audi – young men ages 17 and 18 – received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Subaru – a 49-year-old woman – was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

The woman was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Middletown Township in “extremely critical condition,” police said.

On Saturday, the woman died of to her injuries at the hospital, police said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and contact Detective Frank Goodwin at 267-756-8066.

During the investigation, all lanes of Wrightstown Road between Durham Road and Swamp Road were closed for several hours. The roadway reopened by Saturday morning.
