Popular stationary chain Paper Source has opened its doors in the Village of Newtown shopping center in Newtown Township.

The chain stationary and gift retailer opened in the storefront between Chopped and Ulta Beauty.

The company, according to its website, puts a focus on the environment and sustainability.

The Newtown Township location is the first Paper Source store in Bucks County, but there are several locations in the region, including Princeton, New Jersey.

In 1983, Susan Lindstrom founded Paper Source after being inspired by exquisite stationery during a visit to Japan. The inaugural Paper Source outlet was established in Chicago’s River North area, displaying artisanal papers from across the globe.

By 2009, Lindstrom had stepped down from her role as chief creative officer.

In 2007, the company caught the attention of Brentwood Associates, which then acquired a significant share, propelling its growth.

Later, in 2013, Investcorp took over the chain and expanded its presence. However, the company faced financial challenges and declared bankruptcy in 2021.

After restructuring, Barnes and Noble took ownership, and the company now boasts around 130 outlets.
