A boutique training and fitness center will open in Newtown Township in the coming months.

Last month, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors granted conditional use for operation of an athletic facility in a shopping center to Jennifer and Brian Pellegrino. The couple will open Body20 at the former site of the GNC in the Village of Newtown.

Body20 will operate a 1,600-square-foot center that will use a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-cleared electro-muscle stimulation (EMS) suit designed to help customers workout.

The Newtown Township center will have a bathroom, space for the equipment, have no more than eight employees in the business at one time, and will limit the number of customers inside to no more than a dozen at a time.

Jennifer Pellegrino said the EMS suit has helped her work out after many surgeries, and this type of business is new to this part of the country.

Body20 claims on its website that a 20-minute session is equivalent to working out for hours in a regular gym.
