After more than 10 years, Greenstraw has a new owner.

The business on North Sycamore Street in Newtown Township that is known for smoothies, juices, and bowls announced over the weekend that it has a new owner – Dhruv Patel.

“I pride myself in seizing the opportunity in providing the community with healthier and tastier plant-based alternatives,” he wrote on Facebook.

Patel is a Newtown resident and has been vegan for close to five years.

Looking to the future, Patel told NewtownPANow.com he plans to consolidate the current menu and make room for new items, including hot sandwiches, wraps, and coffee. All the items will be vegan-friendly.

“As a Newtown Local and a vegan, I’m excited and I hope to bring healthier, plant-based alternatives to the town along with our award winning, locally sourced, organic smoothies and açaí bowls! We’re planning to be Newtown’s first vegan cafe,” Patel said on Monday.

Patel has spent the past two years volunteering to build Swaminarayan Akshardham, a massive Hindu temple and complex in Central New Jersey, before recently buying Greenstraw.

Greenstraw was opened in 2013 by local resident Kelly Anne Troy, a health coach who wanted to provide healthy options for her kids and the community.

Greenstraw opened a location in the Ferry Market in New Hope Borough, but that location closed several years ago.
