A coastal storm is set to bring significant rainfall and potential flooding to the area Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists predict the storm will deliver 2 to 3 inches of rain, with certain areas possibly receiving up to 4 inches.

The most intense rainfall is expected to occur Sunday night through early Monday morning.

The storm has led to concerns about potential urban and small stream flooding, and there’s also a possibility of spotty minor river flooding, forecasters said.

In addition to heavy rains, strong winds accompanying the storm pose a threat. Wind gusts reaching 30 to 40 mph on Sunday night and Monday could knock down tree limbs, potentially causing power outages in some areas, forecasters said.

As the storm moves through, there’s a chance of some snow showers late Monday night into early Tuesday morning followed by a possibility of rain showers Tuesday morning.

Conditions are expected to improve with clearing skies by Tuesday afternoon.
