After slightly more than a year in business, The Wycombe House in Wrightstown Township will close its doors.

Owner Jerry Driscoll said this week that the restaurant and bar will close on Sunday, December 31 at 6 p.m.

According to Driscoll, the impending closure marks the end of a challenging year for the 142-seat eatery located in the village of Wycombe near the Lingohocken Fire Company station.

The restaurant’s owner expressed gratitude to both patrons and employees for their support over the past year.

Driscoll noted the past year has been financially hard for the restaurant industry, and The Wycombe House was not immune to the challenges.

Driscoll said inflation, the mortgage costs for the building, and liquor price increases by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board all played a role.

People have been spending less time dining out, directly impacting restaurants like The Wycombe House, according to Driscoll.

The Wycombe House and its owner have invited family, friends, and loyal customers to a farewell celebration on Friday, December 29.

The restaurant will offer a 40 percent discount on all menu items, along with special prices on drinks.

Reflecting on the business, Driscoll stated: “You ain’t gonna get any nouveau, amandine, thin crust, bottled water, sauteed city food here. The food is still brown, hot and there’s plenty of it.”

Driscoll was reported to have poured more than $1.5 million into converting the Wycombe Publick House to the more upscale Wycombe House in 2022.

The Wycombe House received a full renovation and many updates to the inside and outside when it reopened.
