Jennifer Schorn, the newly appointed district attorney for Bucks County, announced the promotion of prosecutor Edward Louka to the role of first assistant district attorney.
Louka’s appointment is to the second-highest ranking position in the district attorney’s office.
Louka, a graduate of Widener University School of Law, is no stranger to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, having first joined the team in 2006. His initial tenure saw him actively involved in the special victim’s unit and major crimes unit.
Louka left the office in 2013 and served in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. He then worked in private practice, and he returned to Bucks County in 2017.
The prosecutor’s return saw him leading the office’s auto theft awareness, education, and prevention program and spearheading the special investigations and major crimes unit.
During his time at the office, Louka has played a critical role in mentoring through the office’s summer internship program.
The announcement was made during a staff meeting that gathered prosecutors, county detectives, and support staff at the Justice Center last Thursday.
Schorn praised Louka’s dedication and professional integrity.
“Ed has a faithful dedication to helping others,” she said. “And as he takes on his new role, I have complete confidence that he will continue to work tirelessly for the residents of Bucks County.”
Accepting the promotion, Louka expressed his gratitude and commitment to the office.
“Anything I am as an attorney, anything good I’ve done, is because of this place because of the attorneys who’ve helped me and taught me, the experiences I’ve had working with our detectives who are phenomenal, and the support staff, the unsung heroes who make us look good in court.”
“I’m excited to help Jen in the direction she’s taking this place,” he said. “I do this job, most of us do, because we want to help victims and help police.”
Louka thanked Schorn and the district attorney’s office staff.
“I love this place,” he said.
