February 4

DUI

At approximately 1:29 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Pontiac Grand Am operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Woodbourne Road and White Swan Way. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

February 7

Truck Enforcement

The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of Durham Road and Fox Hill Drive in Wrightstown Township. The unit is made up of officers from this department, the Newtown Borough Police Department, and the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. During the detail, nine trucks were stopped and inspected. One truck was placed out of service, and six citations and six warnings were issued for violations that were found.

February 11

Suspected Drugs

At approximately 4:27 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Liberty Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was placed under arrest and charges are pending. 

February 12

DUI

At approximately 3:50 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Diamond Drive and Buck Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator refused to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator also refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.

February 18

Burglary

At approximately 8:18 a.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a suspicious circumstance. Arriving officers discovered evidence of a burglary. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

February 19

Theft

A Newtown Township business contacted police around 4:52 p.m. to report the theft of services.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.

February 20

Suspected Drugs

At approximately 2:38 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence.  The operator was arrested and charges are pending.

February 21

Truck Enforcement

The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of River Road in Upper Makefield Township. The unit is made up of officers from this department, the Newtown Borough Police Department, and the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. During the detail, 9 trucks were stopped and inspected. One truck was placed out of service and two citations and two warnings were issued for violations that were found.  

Fraud

Police were dispatched to a business located on State Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. for the report of a fraud involving an altered check. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

February 22

DUI

At approximately 2:42 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Linton Hill Road and Washington Crossing Road for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
