PennDOT plans to put a high-friction surface treatment on a local roadway this week.

The treatment will be placed on Worthington Mill Road in Wrightstown and Northampton townships.

Travel slowdowns and periodic lane closures should be expected from Monday, July 15, through Friday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Worthington Mill Road between Second Street Pike (Route 232) and Swamp Road.

A section of the roadway was recently repaved by PennDOT and the Worthington Mill Road bridge was replaced.

Drivers have been alerted to give extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur.

The application of the high-friction surface treatment is dependent on the weather.

According to PennDOT, the high-friction surface treatment will add increased friction and grip on pavements in wet and dry conditions.

The latest work is part of the $4.5 million project to replace the Worthington Mill Road bridge over Neshaminy Creek, which reopened last December.
