Upper Makefield Township held a special meeting earlier this week to apply for a $1 million grant.

In a meeting that lasted just over two minutes, the supervisors voted to apply for a Local Share Assessment grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for $1 million.

If the grant is awarded, the funds will go toward the Upper Makefield Fire Company’s planned purchase of a 2028 Pierce Enforcer Pumper truck.

Township Manager David Nyman said the application has to be submitted by the end of November to meet state deadlines.

Formed in the mid-1960s, the Upper Makefield Fire Company operates out of stations on Taylorsville Road and Eagle Road.
