Lower Bucks County is expected to wake up to snow on the ground this weekend as the National Weather Service predicts the first measurable snowfall of the season Friday night into Saturday morning.
According to the forecast, a possible accumulation of a coating to 2 inches of snow could fall. The latest forecast is an uptick from earlier projections of just a light dusting.
The clipper system could lead to a rainy Friday morning and afternoon, turning into a mix and then entirely to snow as the night progresses.
The snow should end by Saturday morning with clear skies anticipated through the Christmas holiday, according to the National Weather Service.
The early snowfall may stirs hopes for a white Christmas in the region, which has not experienced one since 2009, but those hopes won’t be realized, according to the forecast.
The official definition of a white Christmas involves having at least one inch of snow on the ground on the morning of Dec. 25.
Last winter, the Trenton weather station recorded 15.1 inches of snowfall over the course of the season, a dramatic rise from the 2 inches recorded in 2023.
