After 27 years of service, Cpl. Timothy Keegan retired from the Newtown Township Police Department on December 31, the department announced.

Keegan, whose career began as a park ranger, joined the Newtown Township Police on October 27, 1997 after being hired by then-Chief Martin Duffy.

The lawman rose through the ranks and was promoted to corporal in 2012.

During his career, Keegan earned multiple lifesaving commendations and received countless letters of appreciation. His contributions were recognized not only by local community members and neighboring departments but also by officials as far afield as Houston, where the mayor noted Keegan’s service.

Described by his department as an exemplary officer, Keegan was known for his readiness to assist community members and ensure people were heard.

An avid nature enthusiast, he was always ready to share his knowledge of wildlife and birds.

“Tim Keegan was an exemplary member of this department. We thank him for his service and wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement,” the department said.
