Fast-moving wildfires have devastated parts of Los Angeles and surrounding areas over the past week and claimed the lives of at least eight people with more still missing, officials said.
The blazes have been fueled by strong winds and have drawn firefighting resources from across North America. Teams from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are working to bring the wildfires under control.
Despite the efforts of fire crews, fire conditions are expected to deteriorate with the forecast of renewed strong winds on Monday, which could rapidly spread the flames further, according to California fire officials.
As of late Sunday, the largest of the three major fires, the Palisades Fire, was reported to be only 13 percent contained, while the Hurst Fire was 89 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
