FBI special agents in the Philadelphia area are calling on the public to assist in identifying patients who may have been victimized by a series of fraudulent “body scan” clinics, according to a news release.
Federal authorities are investigating the activities of Mary Blakley, 75, who, along with her husband Floyd “Fred” Blakley, and various associates. Mary Blakley allegedly posed as a doctor or PhD since as early as 2002 through December 2024.
The FBI has reported that Mary Blakley used numerous aliases, including the last names Blakely, Blakleley, Blakeley, Blankley, Cammer, Davis, Petry, Shjlom, and Venable. She is known to use various first names, including Marye, Marye Yvonnea, Rosemary, Rose Mary, Rose, and Yvonne.
The couple is accused of operating under multiple business names: Sonic Waves Research, Living Well Ministry, Living Well Health Club, Living Well Warriors, The Blakley Foundation, Health Screenings 4 Life, Health Scans 4 Life, Health Screening 4 Life, Health Screens 4 Life, and London Bridge Wellness Center.
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Jacqueline Romero announced the unsealing of an indictment this week against the Blakleys, who most recently lived in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to violate the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
These clinics reportedly charged clients across the U.S. about $300 for “full body scans” using ultrasound machines equipped with a fraudulent “smart chip technology.” This technology, claimed to be invented by Mary Blakley, allegedly could diagnose a variety of diseases and perform medical procedures ranging from colonoscopies to electrocardiograms, authorities said.
The indictment said that the Blakleys prescribed ineffective treatments, including supplements, creams, and veterinary products, based on the scan results. The treatments were claimed to treat serious conditions like leukemia and remove kidney stones, among other false promises.
None of the procedures, technologies, or prescribed substances had Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for humans, as stated in the indictment.
The FBI asks anyone who believes they or a family member might have been a patient at these clinics to come forward. Information can be provided by completing a questionnaire available at the “Seeking Patients of Mary Blakley” website or by contacting the FBI Philadelphia Field Office at 215-418-4000.
The investigation by the FBI and the Office of Criminal Investigations of the FDA is ongoing, authorities said.
