The strong storm system is poised to impact the region starting Sunday and will bring periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and a dramatic temperature drop, according to the National Weather Service.

The effects of the storm system are expected to linger through Monday.

Rain and thunderstorms are predicted through Sunday afternoon, with the potential for localized minor flooding due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

High winds will develop this afternoon and evening, persisting through Monday. The strongest winds, with sustained speeds of 25 to 40 mph and gusts of 50 to 60 mph, are expected between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday. Gusts near 40-50 mph are possible late into Monday.

Temperatures will rise to very mild levels by this afternoon before plummeting, with wind chills falling into the teens.
