Council Rock High School North celebrated its 55th graduating class last Thursday at Walt Snyder Stadium in Newtown Township.
Principal Jason Traczykiewicz commended the Class of 2025 for their individuality and impact on the school.
“Today we celebrate not just a graduating class, but a collective of the individuals who chose to be known rather than merely fitting in,” Traczykiewicz said. “And because of that choice, because of your choice, this school is forever changed for the better.”
The ceremony recognized distinguished scholars, who represented the top 2 percent of the class, as well as students in the top 10 percent. Students entering military service, armed forces academies, or ROTC programs were also acknowledged.
Twenty-three students were recognized by the National Merit Corporation, with 11 named finalists.
Traczykiewicz announced that the class collectively accepted more than $6 million in scholarships.
Beyond academics, 29 students committed to compete in collegiate athletics.
Student speaker Grace Seamans shared wisdom from a Teddy Roosevelt quote, her father often referenced.
“Being the man in the arena is about putting yourself out there. It is about being the person to try something new, unsure of whether or not you will be successful,” Seamans said. “Your future is defined not by the times that you missed the mark, but rather by the times that you attempted to meet that mark.”
Ava DiMeo, another student speaker, used a tree analogy to highlight the support system contributing to student growth.
“Just as a tree cannot sprout its leaves without the support of its roots, tree’s trunk and branches, Council Rock North’s Class of 2025 could not believe in the beauty of their dreams without the support of their roots, trunk and branches,” DiMeo said.
She identified parents and guardians as the roots, teachers and staff as the trunk, and friends and classmates as the branches that all contribute to student growth.
Class President Alvaro Luna encouraged his classmates to embrace new experiences and discomfort, noting that high school represents a small fraction of their lives.
“By the time we are 70, high school will make up less than 5 percent of our lives,” Luna said.
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Sanko congratulated the graduates
“You sit here today fully prepared and accomplished as Council Rock North seniors, ready to step forward into the greater world with confidence in the journey ahead,” he said.
The ceremony also included recognition for staff members, including Anthony Veneziale, an assistance principal, who will become the next principal of Council Rock High School South.
Assistant Principal Nate Scott was honored for his upcoming retirement after 35 years in education. Of those three decades working in schools, 21 of which were at Council Rock High School North.
“Over that time frame, he was a grade level principal for six classes and has supported over 10,000 students during that time,” Traczykiewicz said.
