With a few outages remaining as of Sunday afternoon, just over 200 PECO customers in the Newtown area were still in the dark.
The remaining outages come nearly four days after a line of intense thunderstorms brought down trees and drenched the region.
The Newtown-area outages accounted for a portion of the nearly 3,000 Bucks County customers still in the dark, according to PECO.
Crews from PECO, its contractors, and utility companies from multiple states were working across Bucks County on the sticky weekend to restore service.
More than 3,000 PECO staffers were on the ground and supplemented by 2,600 additional workers in the region.
Line workers and tree crews from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, along with crews from PECO’s sister utility ComEd in Chicago, are assisting with restoration efforts, PECO officials said.
Most customers still without power are expected to have service restored by Sunday night.
PECO officials cautioned that “additional damage may be identified, and restoration times may change” as crews continue their work. The company advised customers to check the PECO mobile app or peco.com for the latest information on their restoration status.
For those still impacted, Newtown Fire Rescue said that its station at 14 Liberty Street in Newtown Borough is staffed and open to the public from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. if locals are seeking air conditioning or need a charging location.
Residents and businesses spent the weekend cleaning up storm damage.
Only a handful of roads in Bucks County remained closed Sunday due to storm-related issues.
PECO officials asked residents to stay away from downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment, and to report any downed wires by calling 800-841-4141.
