The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced it will host a Fish-for-Free Day on Friday, July 4.
The day will allow residents and non-residents the opportunity to fish Pennsylvania waterways without a fishing license.
The special event coincides with the Independence Day holiday.
While the license requirement is waived, state officials emphasized that all other Pennsylvania fishing regulations remain in effect.
Anglers are advised to be familiar with current rules regarding creel limits, legal sizes and approved fishing methods.
State officials said no trout/salmon or Lake Erie permits will be required on Friday.
“Fish-for-Free Days are great ways for families to ‘catch’ the fun of fishing!” officials stated.
