Newtown Township will get its first tattoo shop this fall.

Philly Joe Tattoo Studio is preparing to open its doors at 159 Sycamore Street this October.

Founded by veteran tattoo artist Joe Thomas, the studio will transforming the 4,000-square-foot space into a speakeasy-inspired studio with a focus on luxury.

Thomas, a Philadelphia native with over a decade of experience, previously operated his studio in Bensalem Township for five years.

His initial attempt to open a shop in Newtown four years ago failed to get off the ground, but he recently had success.

“This isn’t just about opening a tattoo shop,” Thomas said. “It’s about introducing Newtown to the profound craft of tattoo artistry … while cultivating a vibrant community where individuals connect, share stories, and celebrate their unique journeys.”

The studio plans to offer a full range of cosmetic services, including custom tattoos, laser removal, permanent makeup, and piercings. The shop will also provide hair follicle treatments.

Beyond its core services, Thomas said the studio will also host entertainment events, such as comedy nights, karaoke, and live music.

“I want people to feel like they’re on a special date, not just getting a tattoo,” he said.

The studio is already booking appointments ahead of its grand opening, a Halloween party scheduled for October. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration.
