State Sen. Steve Santarsiero recently toured the 10th Senate District with PennDOT officials to review ongoing projects and look at areas in need of repair.

The road tour, which included six stops and dozens of roads, was guided by constituent and municipal feedback, according to a statement from Santarsiero’s office.

The Democratic state senator’s office maintains a rolling list of road repair requests and regularly shares it with PennDOT.

“My office hears from constituents and municipalities regularly with concerns about the condition of our roadways, particularly as we see many of our roadways showing their age and struggling to meet growing traffic demands in our region,” Santarsiero said. “I am committed to working with PennDOT to address the projects highlighted on this year’s tour.”

The tour began in Lower Makefield Township, where Santarsiero was joined by State Rep. Perry Warren, a Democrat, and Lower Makefield Township Supervisor John Lewis.

The officials called for the repaving by PennDOT of Stony Hill Road between the Newtown Bypass and Heacock Road.

The tour traveled to Upper Makefield Township, and Santarsiero applauded the expedited repaving of River Road.

“It has been a priority of mine to work with PennDOT to get this road into better shape, making it a safer and more pleasant drive for residents and visitors,” he said.

In Falls Township, the tour traveled along North Oxford Valley and South Oxford Valley roads.

Santarsiero noted the concrete roadway’s deterioration and received an update on a intersection reconstruction project at Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and North Oxford Valley Road, which is now in the final design phase.

In Bristol Township, Santarsiero met with township officials and staff for State Rep. Tina Davis to address concerns about the intersection of Route 13 and Veterans Highway (Route 413).

PennDOT officials noted the road’s sloped design was intentional and said mastic repairs would be completed this summer.

PennDOT confirmed that Bath Road in Bristol Township is scheduled for paving in spring 2026.

In Tullytown Borough, Santarsiero, State Rep. Jim Prokopiak, a Democrat, and borough officials discussed increased truck traffic on Main Street.

PennDOT officials said they will complete patching in sections to smooth the road and reduce sound.

The tour also addressed the continued traffic impact on Tullytown Borough from the closure of the Randall Avenue bridge in Bristol Township.

Santarsiero and Davis secured $2 million in state funding for the bridge’s repair last year and repair work was underway.

“The repair and re-opening of the Randall Avenue bridge is critical for the safety of Bristol Township residents and to alleviate extra traffic in Tullytown Borough,” Santarsiero said.

In Falls Township, Santarsiero followed up on the status of Penn Valley Road at New Falls Road, a stop on the 2024 road tour. The road is scheduled for resurfacing in the coming months, with work expected to be completed in spring 2026.

PennDOT also shared updates on the resurfacing of New Falls Road and Tyburn Road in Falls Township, which are scheduled to begin next year.

In New Hope Borough, Santarsiero led PennDOT to the intersection of South Sugan Road at Old York Road to look safety concerns raised by constituents.

PennDOT officials will explore traffic calming measures to improve safety at the curve in the roadway in the borough.

The tour also stopped at Cold Spring Creamery Road in Buckingham Township, where State Rep. Tim Brennan and township officials discussed the need for patching this fall.

In Solebury Township, PennDOT will stabilize a wall adjacent to the Phillip’s Mill Community Association along River Road this fall. PennDOT will add an asphalt lip to track water away from the wall and prevent erosion.

Santarsiero thanked PennDOT for resurfacing Route 413 in Plumstead and Buckingham townships.

The tour also made visits to Route 202 and Route 611 in Doylestown Township and East Butler Avenue in Chalfont Borough.

“Every year on the road tour we check off projects from previous year’s lists and add more requests for PennDOT to take care of,” Santarsiero said. “This work never ends, but each project is an important opportunity to improve safety for those who use these roads.”

Santarsiero’s district runs from Bristol Borough to Chalfont Borough.
