Democrats won the contested municipal races in Newtown Borough on Tuesday, according to unofficial results.

Tara Grunde-McLaughlin, a Democrat, won the borough mayoral seat over Republican Nicole Rodowicz. Both candidates previously served on the Borough Council.

Incumbent Democrats Emily Heinz and Kris Bauman secured victories for the two four-year First Ward council seats. Heinz is the current borough council president. Republican challenger Courtney Lang did not gain enough votes to secure a spot on the council.

In the Second Ward, incumbent Democrat Gina Tognini held onto her four-year council seat, fending off a challenge from Republican Bernie Sauer.

Judy Musto ran unopposed for the borough tax collector position.
