Bike Works announced last week that it will consolidate its retail operations by closing its Newtown Township store next month and adding a new mobile repair unit.
The location on North Sycamore Street, which opened in 2021, is scheduled to close Dec. 15.
The independent, employee-owned company will combine its retail sales and full-service offerings at its long-established Doylestown Borough shop at 139 S. Main Street.
The move, the company said in a statement, will “enhance operations and better serve riders throughout the region.”
In conjunction with the consolidation, Bike Works is launching a new mobile service van this winter. The unit is designed to bring expert bike repairs, tune-ups and select products directly to customers across Bucks County. The van will offer convenient, scheduled home appointments to cyclists in Newtown and surrounding areas.
“I’ve been on the ground floor of each location we have opened since 2011,” said Dan Turner, manager of the Bike Works Newtown shop. “I’m so proud of the shop we built on Sycamore Street and of the relationships we’ve built here in Newtown.”
Turner said the staff is looking forward to forthcoming mobile service.
“We’re excited about the new opportunities the mobile unit will bring, allowing us to better serve the cycling community where they ride,” he said.
Fran Taloricco, founding partner at Bike Works, called the Newtown store a “great success” that introduced the company to many new friends.
“We look forward to serving our community for many years through our Doylestown store and mobile service unit,” Taloricco said.
The Doylestown location will honor all existing service, orders and gift cards following the Newtown store’s closing.
Bike Works was founded in 2011.
