Upper Makefield-based Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is stepping up to make sure a landmark conference at Millersville University in Lancaster County will continue.

The Native Plants in the Landscape Conference was anything but guaranteed for this year after the 2015 conference concluded. A press release cited a lack of volunteers and state laws governing the use of university facilities as reasons the conference may not continue.

The only way the conference could continue for its 25th year was if an outside, non-profit provided guidance and management for the annual conference. In the end, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve stepped up.

“2016 stands to be one of our best conferences yet! We hope you will join us and welcome our new partners from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. And while you’re at it – thank them for saving our beloved Native Plants in the Landscape Conference. For without them, it would be no more,” said volunteer Angela Treadwell-Palmer, conference director since 2002.

This year’s conference will run from June 15 through June 17. There will be a number of guests and speakers at the event.

Online Registration for the conference opens on April 1. Interested parties can go to millersvillenativeplants.org for more information.
