The Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set to step off Saturday morning in Levittown.
The annual parade, which is themed “Honor the Police” this year, will be grand marshaled by Falls Township resident Maggie Lorady. The certified Irish dance teacher and former paraprofessional at the Pennsbury School District is the daughter of a military police officer, married to a deputy constable and mother to a police officer. She also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Frances Cabrini Parish.
Lorady will lead the parade in its 28th annual outing. Starting with mass at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Fairless Hills at 8 a.m., the parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. in the area of the closed St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. The parade will then move along New Falls Road towards Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Fairless Hills, parade officials said.
“Thank you very much. It’s an honor to grand marshal this parade,” Lorady said last month when the Bucks County Commissioners recognized her.
More than 2,000 marchers will be participating in the parade this year. The marchers will include string bands, pipe bands, marching bands, Irish dancers, local law enforcement and emergency responders, veterans, local businesses, charitable organizations, St. Patrick himself and more.
Following the parade, the annual Hoolie will be held at the at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Trenton Road in Falls.
The 2015 parade was canceled due to server weather that struck the region.
