The music area of the Bucks County Community College’s Department of the Arts will be showcasing student talent at six free concerts launching April 25 and continuing through May 5. The concerts are all part of the Arts at Bucks celebrations.
The free concerts, will all take place at 7:30 p.m., on the Newtown campus, at the Presser Music Room in the Music & Multimedia Center.
On April 25 the week of events will begin when the Bucks Chamber Jazz Ensembles take the stage. The students will perform blues and diverse repertoire from the Great American Songbook.
On Wednesday, April 27, the Madrigal Singers will take the stage. Under the direction of faculty member Rochelle Reed, the college’s select vocal ensemble will perform advanced repertoire representing diverse historical, cultural, and stylistic background and genres.
The Percussion Ensemble will perform under the direction of Mark Pultorak on Thursday, April 28. The program will include a wide spectrum of percussion music, including standard repertoire, popular favorites, recent avant-garde compositions, Brazilian styles and African drumming. Students in a Classical Chamber Ensemble will also perform a variety of stylistically diverse repertoire under the direction of Len Pierro.
The 50-voice Concert Choir will perform on Wednesday, May 4. The mixed vocal ensemble will perform a variety of music ranging from the classics to contemporary arrangements.
The concert series will conclude in the Zlock Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 5, with the Bucks Jazz Orchestra. Under the direction of Jeff Baumeister, the group will be performing music ranging from Big Band and swing to modern jazz.
