State Rep. Santarsiero Announces Nearly $50,000 In Grants To Local EMS And Fire Companies

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero (D-Bucks), announced Thursday that three local fire companies and one EMS company will receive more than $48,000 combined in state grants.

The grants, which were made possible by the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, was funded by gaming revenue, according to officials. The grant program, which is set for expiration the is June 30, was recently voted to be extended for another four years by Santarsiero. H.B. 1877, as the bill is referred to passed the House and awaits action in the Senate.

While $7,201 will be given in grant money to the Newtown American Legion Ambulance Squad, $13,789 each will be given to the Morrisville Fire Company, the Newtown Fire Association and the Yardley Makefield Fire Company. According to officials, grants can be used towards repairing, building or renovating facilities, or applied toward the purchase of new equipment, training and certification of staff, or repaying debt related to equipment purchases or facility building and maintenance.
