Bucks County Awards Contracts For 9-1-1 Upgrades


911ShutterstockIn a five-minute special meeting earlier this week, the Bucks County Commissioners voted to move forward with a plan to upgrade the current 9-1-1 system.

The commissioners voted to unanimously award a $2 million dollar contract with Frontier Communications of America Inc. of Norwalk, Connecticut to install an upgraded 9-1-1 communications system and maintain the system for five years. In addition, MCM Consulting Group Inc. of Saint Marys, Elk County was awarded a $256,000 contract to provide consulting services for the new Computer Aided Dispatch system.

The county 9-1-1 dispatch center for police, fire and medical services is based in Ivyland. A backup communications center is based at the Administration Building in Doylestown.
