A local yarn store has relocated from Wrightstown to Newtown Township.

Diane Greenfield, owner of Knitting to Know Ewe and her daughter and business partner Christin Carlano, bring knitting to Newtown located at 247 North Sycamore Street. The store features a wide selection of high quality knitting and crocheting yarns.

Greenfield was previously located in Penns Park section of Wrightstown for many years prior to calling Newtown Knitting to Know Ewe’s new home.

Previously, Greenfield and her husband were in the food service business for many years. Greenfield’s grandmother and aunt taught her to knit turning that passion into a business.

Traveling mainly the United States for new yarns and products, Greenfield also made a trip this year to Germany which she said was very interesting and is planning to make another trip back.

“Knitting is not as played up in this country as it is in others, however, if you are part of the knitting community, it is a big group” Greenfield said. “Knitting requires a small amount of time. The yarn does the work for you.”

The store does not sell finished items but has a large supply of yarns to choose from to create your own piece. Greenfield believes in one on one lessons so attention is given to the knitter. Lessons are $28 per hour.

Greenfield believes everyone has a creative ability and we need to express that ability on a daily basis, as she does by knitting daily. Greenfield also says that people knit the way you are – the way they perceive life and nature. The store’s website has a blog on the positive impact that knitting has on one’s health.

Greenfield and her husband were long time residents of Doylestown and made the move to Newtown along with their business. They are thrilled to be in Newtown and as they did in their former hometown, they want to become involved within the community. Her daughter also resides in Newtown.

A “Let’s Go Crazy” party in honor of Prince will be held on July 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Purple Sangria, music from Prince, and a storewide sale on everything that is purple.
