Newtown Township police stopped a man after he allegedly was involved in a hit-and-run crash.

County dispatch was called by a person who claimed to have witnessed a hit-and-run involving a car and a person on a bicycle in the area of South Eagle Road near the Bank of America. The caller said they were following the alleged striking vehicle, police said.

Township officers responded to the area of West Hanover Street near Beech Street where they stopped the vehicle, police said.

Justin Nusblatt, 28, of Newtown Township, was identified as the driver and talked with police. An officer noted that Nusblatt appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and placed him under arrest, police said.

Nusblatt was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown to provide a blood sample for testing.

Police did not release whether the bicyclist was injured.
