Charley Martin is once again leading the Bucks County Commissioners.

Martin was appointed to be chairman of the Commissioners for 2017 at their first meeting of the year.

Martin is stepping up to fill the chairman position previously held Commissioner Robert Loughery, who led the governing body for five years.

“I’ve had the great privilege to serve as chairman five years consecutively,” Loughery said. “I’ve enjoyed working with everybody in this role – the departments, the courts and the row offices.”

Martin thanked Loughery for his leadership over the years. “We have some issues we look forward to working on: filling up the (former) courthouse (through renovation and centralization of County services); getting our Open Space program finalized; addressing drug issues; economic development; and keeping an eye on the budget,” he said.

Loughery will serve as vice chairman for 2017 and and Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia will chair the Board of Elections.
