Possible Theft

Police received a phone call from a resident of Northampton Township around 11:15 p.m. who reported that she lost her phone at the Applebee’s earlier in the night. She believes that it out of her pocket while she was getting out of the car. The caller told the officer that she was using the “Find My iPhone” app which indicated the phone was in Newtown Township, but when police arrived at the location the app relocated and continued to switch locations.  The app was deemed to be inaccurate so the officer discontinued the search.

Suspected DUI

While patrolling on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Richboro Road at approximately 2:30 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle being operated in an unsafe manner and began to follow the motorist.   The vehicle continued north and began to merge right at the Tyler State Park entrance, traveling north on Durham Road.  The officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of South Drive where the driver was identified as, 57 year-old Robert B. Jones of Doylestown.  After a brief investigation, the officer formed the opinion that Jones was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and incapable of safe driving. He was taken into custody and transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for a blood draw.  The blood was submitted to NMS labs for analysis.  Charges of DUI are pending the lab results.

Fraud

At approximately 10:10 a.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of Penns Park Road for the report of property damage that occurred last night or early this morning.  Upon arrival the officer spoke with the resident who related that a vehicle drove up onto his lawn and hit his dry stack stone wall along with an anchor cable for a telephone pole.  The officer did observe tire tracks going through the stack stone wall and the anchor cable was snapped about three feet from the ground.  The resident had notified PennDOT of the cable.
