Three Bucks County men were among 230 people arrested for allegedly rioting during President Donald Trump’s inauguration last Friday in Washington D.C.
John Flynn, 25, of Langhorne; Aaron Schoen, 18, of Doylestown; and Benjamin Pennacchio, 18, of Pipersville, were the Bucks Countians arrested last Friday by the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, according to a document obtained by PennLive.com.
In total, 33 Pennsylvania residents were arrested for rioting.
Fox News reported the the 230 protestors were charged with felony rioting, a crime punishable by jail time and a fine of up to $25,000.
While the majority of protests on Friday’s inauguration were peaceful and did not lead to arrest, police said rioters “engaged in acts of vandalism and several instances of destruction of property.” In a news release, police said the “group damaged vehicles, destroyed the property of multiple businesses, and ignited smaller isolated fires while armed with crowbars, hammers and asps.”
Police did not release the specific incidents the Bucks County men were allegedly involved in.
Officers used pepper spray and other techniques to try to control the rioters.
Attorney Mark Goldstone, who is representing some of those charged with rioting, said police went into areas where the riot was happening and arrested everyone whether they were involved or just a bystander, according to a Fox News article.
Six journalists covering the riots were swept up in the arrests, The Guardian reported.
