Wednesday’s beautiful spring weather along State Street in Newtown Borough provided the perfect welcome for volunteers who are walking the country to honor our nation’s heroes.

Walkers from Carry The Load traveled from a celebration in Yardley to Newtown Borough before walking through Middletown. They ended up at the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company station in Langhorne Borough before trekking to the Trevose Fire Company in Bensalem.

The group honors the service and sacrifice of military, law enforcement and first responders. The month-long walk and bike ride travels the country in teams before meeting for a large event in Dallas.

Aside from military veterans, the now-annual event serves to honor the service and memory of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders.

The stop in Bucks County comes a day after the Carry The Load group stopped at the Ground Zero memorial in New York City.

After leaving the Philadelphia area, the group plans to hit Washington D.C. and other cities on their way to Dallas.
