Newtown’s “street fair with flair” will take over Sycamore Street between Washington Avenue and Durham Road Sunday.
The Newtown Business Association’s Welcome Day will take place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Thousands of people are expected to line Sycamore Street for the large festival that will feature more than 200 vendors. Included in the group will be face painters, eateries, dozens of musical acts, local community groups, area crafters and a multitude of local businesses.

Along with the annual Passport Challenge, which includes a chance to win an Apple Watch donated by Keller Williams’ realtor Diane Loomis, a Snapchat Challenge will be part of this year’s activities. The Snapchat Challenge is for those age 13 and up and will end with a cash prize being awarded.

The Newtown Business Association said Welcome Day is a way for the community to enjoy themselves and also for area businesses to encourage people to shop local.
