The father of a Bucks County Sheriff’s Office prisoner who remained on the lam as of Monday evening was taken into custody.

According to police, Daniel Selby Sr., 65, of Fountainville, was in Doylestown Township police custody for “aiding in his son’s escape from Doylestown Township earlier this morning.” His son, Daniel Selby, 25, remained on the run after a significant ground manhunt was called off earlier in the day.

The senior Selby will be arraigned before a district judge late Monday evening on charges of hindering apprehension, aiding in the consummation of crime and obstructing the administration of law.

As of late afternoon, Chief Deputy Dennis Shook said there was no new information to report on the search for the younger Selby. Earlier information from authorities indicated that Selby may have fled the Edison section of Doylestown via a vehicle.

Selby is six-feet-tall with facial scruff. He was last wearing an orange shirt, transport belt, handcuffs and a white blanket used to cover his handcuffs, police said.

Selby was not believed by police during the morning manhunt to have any weapons.

Authorities said Selby escaped custody late Sunday evening and was seen early Monday morning near the 7-Eleven along Route 611 in the Edison section of Doylestown.

Residents in Chalfont, Doylestown and Warrington received a reverse 9-1-1 call alerting them of the escape and requesting they stay in doors Sunday night. By Sunday morning, the shelter in place had been lifted but the Central Bucks School District closed for the day.

Selby was in custody on a bench warrant related to a drug case when he escaped, a police official said.

On Monday afternoon, Warrington police said Selby was wanted on new charges of escape and aggravated assault.
