During Saturday’s countywide Drug Take-Back Day, police collected 3,149 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
According to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, the latest collection tallies to 107,323 pounds of drugs gathered since the first collection event in September 2010.
The bi-annual collection event gives residents a chance to safely get rid of unwanted, unused or expired medications that otherwise may end up being used illegally or in the public water system.
In addition to the take-back events, many area police stations have year-round collection boxes.
