On Christmas, history enthusiasts and families will gather along the Delaware River to witness the annual reenactment of Gen. George Washington’s legendary crossing.
The event will be hosted at Washington Crossing Historic Park in the area of the main visitor’s center in Upper Makefield Township.
The festivities are scheduled for Monday, December 25 from noon to 3 p.m., with the crossing reenactment at 1 p.m.
The free public event is open to spectators.
This year marks the 247th anniversary of the crossing.
The reenactment will force the closure of the Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge, which connects Bucks County in Pennsylvania to Mercer County in New Jersey.
The original crossing in 1776 was a turning point in the Revolutionary War.
The Christmas reenactment follows a rehearsal earlier this month, which drew a large crowd.
